The Hiway Classroom

The Hiway Classroom is a new program that offers an immersive, big-screen learning experience to local schools. The program offers four options for schools to bring students during school hours to the theater. Classes will be able to:

  • Select from any available live theatre / Shakespeare simulcast productions, such as National Theatre Live;
  • Select from a curated slate of topical films featuring protagonists their age that speak to contemporary topics and themes and also showcase explary filmmaking technique. Films in the slate will include short subjects as well as feature-length films and have options available for a range of classrooms and ages;
  • Book a special screening of a currently playing Main Attraction;
  • Select a film of their choosing, based on theatrical availability, that best matches their curriculum.

Each screening will have the option for talk-back and discussion with the Hiway Theater staff, exploring themes in the film as well as filmmaking and storytelling techniques.

Cost to School

  • If more than 35% of the school qualify for subsidized school lunch, then the screening and transportation fees will be covered by the Hiway.
  • If not, then the screening will be priced accordingly with the school covering transportation costs.
