Known for their holiday-themed specials such as RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER and SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN’ TO TOWN, Rankin and Bass crafted a stop-motion love letter to monster films of the 30s - 50s with MAD MONSTER PARTY. Featuring the voice of the legendary Boris Karloff – Dr. Frankenstein calls a convention of monsters to the Isle of Evil to announce his retirement. Subsequently, he looks to announce his successor while trying to prevent the secret to total destruction from falling into the wrong hands. This nostalgic sendup to the Universal Monsters inspired such films as A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA.
